I Don't Like Teacher!

Chocopie.
Today was like the longest day known to man...I don't know what was even going on. Every Friday in my kindergarten class is "Chocopie Day." During this nearly national holiday, I brib into...er reward my students for behaving. However today when I went into work I left the Chocopie by my front door...anyhow I was hoping they'd forget about it, and did everything in my power to try and help them down that path (ie. skipped the whole "Today is Friday. Yesterday was Thursday," speech that precedes each day. I may say Friday but they hear Chocopie Day.) Anyhow despite my best efforts they remembered...I had to break the news that Chocopie Day would be put off until Monday...oh man! I was instantly besieged with "I DON'T LIKE TEACHER!!!" from about 4 or 5 kids (this prompted the remaining kids to declare that they "like teacher," perhaps in an effort to earn more Chocopie at a later date). Anyhow I recalled that I had a sack of shitty hard candy in my desk that they had previously claimed to hate. However when I told them that they would get as many pieces as they like things were right again. The bag was roughly half a kilogram of candy most of which was chucked into the backpacks of my kindergarten students as they left for the day. The remainder I poured onto the table and told my elementary students to, "eat it all before I get back here," amazingly they somehow accomplised that task, for there was not a single candy in sight when class began. Otherwise it was just an insanely slow day. Oh prior to the great Chocopie Disaster of 2003, my kindergarten students bestowed upon me a Korean name, Seong Su Jin (성수진) which is a name for a girl, but it's all good. Darrell's Korean name is the Korean equivelent of John Doe, but also happens to be the name of a Korean folk hero similar to Robin Hood. It's all good!

Perhaps Nick is not as happy-go-lucky as everyone thinks he is...

Nick's packin' some heat yo!
Some random photos from around my hood.

A Dabin-mobile in my officetel's parking garage. This photo was taken under cover of dark, hence the horrible quality...but clearly this is a goldish green Dabin-mobile.

Here's some nightlife in Bongcheon-dong...aka non-existant. This is one of the street in which one can find some sort of card with scantily clad Asian women and a phone number, it's gots ta be hooks!

Candy and Kayla and the side of Jinny's head from my E1 class. That's my guitar in the corner. It's all about rockin' out during music class. I'm like a virtuoso at "Are You Sleeping," aka "Fere Jacques," aka "Where is Thumbkin," aka "Ghosts and Goblins." But as in all my E1 pictures check out the insane quantity of pink in the scene. It's out of control!

Pretty much this photo is just to prove that I have students other than my kindergarten class...here we have Helen Kim (without glasses) and Sandy...uh Kim I guess, and some bonus girls in the background.

This is my oldest class. The girls are really nice. They are (from left to right) Maria, Eliza, and Anne. Then there's Simon, who is a lot of fun if he's not totally insane, but it's all good I suppose. Not pictured: Ashley (she was weilding the camera in this photo) and Joseph.

Eliza and Ashley from my E2 class. I dunno what they are doing, but please note my picture of a mullet hanging in the background.
And because you all care about me so much...here's my picture...kind of.

Here I am...with a goblin mask. Um...this is kind of my classroom. Please note the Kim Junghwa picture in the background.
