Beer Campus

Hey baby, great to see you all again! Aww yeah! May is in the hizouse. There's not really a whole hell of a lot to report right now. This past week was the end of the semester at work, so Thursday and Friday we had some parent conferences. It was pretty decent and most of the parents / kids seemed happy. Yesterday I also had to begin the new semester, but with only one day to do so and the majority of my students missing, we just rocked some review and played games (they didn't want to start new work, and neither did I). My last class consisted of one student...that's right, one student. I made her do an assignment that she had missed the prior week (it involved drawing foods she liked and explaining the picture to me). While she was coloring I read an old issue of National Geographic I found in the office (no, there were no naked natives in it you pervert). Once she had finished this intense project, I taught her the card game "War!" We followed it up with a quick game of "Memory." When we were finished with that there we like 5 minutes left, I told her "We can stay here and play Memory again, or we can go home now. What do you want?" She responded with, "Go home!" Good choice. So after bouncing home, I later met up with U-rim. She and I went to a bar near my house called Beer Campus (I live near a university this name is appropriate). Beer Campus was awesome! It was clean, the beer was cheap, the owner was hella friendly, and the food (you have to buy some food at most bars) was delicious. Additionally at Beer Campus one can buy turkey! We were going to get it last night, but they had not recieved their shipment of it yet so it was out. We got some sort of Cajun style chicken strips and salad instead, which was not a bad choice at all. I'll have to return to Beer Campus sometime in the future.

This is the area where I teach now. Look there are trees there. Seoul is about as urban as one can get, so it was strange for me to encounter things like trees, grass, and flowers when I started working in Goyang-dong.
