Rock Show: Shinchon Art Festival
Well, Children's Day was a rockin' event to say the least. Darrell and I were hanging out at my house drinking some brew, and then headed back to his house to drop of some junk. In the street near his house a stage was set up for the Shinchon Art Festival. There were guys roller skating, doing martial arts, and selling crap. It was your standard issue street fair type thing going on. So we go to his house to listen to some Frank Zappa, when from outside we hear some metal riffage. We return to the streets and some band is sound checking. We stick around and get to see a concert from three bands. Check out the Rocking Out section for more details as to what went down. That's about it.

So May 5th was Children's Day, and my (actually Darrell's) neighborhood had the Shinchon Art Festival. This included a lot of street performances (dancers, roller bladers, martial artists, ect.) and this guy. We weren't really that interested so we went to his house to drink some soju and listen to Frank Zappa. I took this picture as we walked by. We drank some soju, and then heard some hot licks coming from outside (actually it was more the Jjunn junn junn heavy metal type riffing) so we raced out to see what was up. We were treated to a free show by three bands so it was pretty rad.

This was the first band that played. I think they were called Popstore, but I'm not sure. They sounded like any band of high school students in America would sound (quasi-punkish pop rock), so I assumed that they were college students. They weren't that bad, but they were not exactly cutting edge. They sang in English most of the time, but I'm not sure what they were really saying.

This was the second band to hit the stage, Lazybone. They were a band I had actual heard of. I own one of their CDs, so to see them playing in the streets near my home for free was kind of suprising. They are kind of a ska/punk band and were pretty rocking. The crowd seemed to be really into them also. Also note good old, Cock's Blue in the background.

This is Schizo, another band who played during the Shinchon Art Festival.
