人道 없어요.

Having been in Korea now for a year and some months I've finally realized that there are no sidewalks. Please bear in mind that in this time I lived only in Seoul, a major metropolis. My statement would be comparable to saying there are no sidewalks in New York City. You may be asking, "Wyatt, how could there possibly be no sidewalks?" Allow me to explain.
Seoul has the all the infrastructure needed for sidewalks (a raised walkway on the side of the street), however the Korean people utilize these walkways for just about everything but walking. You see, since everyone in Seoul owns a car (except me) this raised walkways serve an important function as much needed parking space for the surplus of large white SUVs.

The parking lot.

There is a secondary purpose for these paths. That being an additional area to drive your motor vechicles (particular motorcycles). So while walking around on these major throughfares, one runs the serious risk of recieving an uninvited motorcycle enema.
Attempting to walk from my house to the subway station is quite an annoyance. I often end up walking in extremely busy streets (due to people parking huge vehicles on the sidewalk). When I am able to walk on the sidewalk I have to dodge and evade motorcycles and scooters. And I'm not even going to get into slow walking people...that's another gripe for another day!
