Calligraphy Class
So yesterday I started taking my calligraphy class. It was pretty deisel, I understood the bulk of what was said to me. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be. Yesterday I spent an hour and a half painting/drawing/writing horizontal and vertical lines. How can that be hard? First off you're suppose to hold the brush in a particular way, which is not the same way you'd hold a pencil or a paint brush or anything in the west. Secondly, for someone with no artistic training (aside from Studio Art in 9th grade) painting a series of lines all the same width can be quite a challenge. Anyhow, in spite of or because of the difficulty, I really enjoyed and and look forward to Wednesday when I can go back again.
Today I begin tutoring some woman. It's nice money and doesn't really interfer (in terms of time) with anything else I do, but it's kind of far from my house. When we meet on Saturdays it won't be a problem, but on Tuesday nights to get there at 8:30 tutor for and hour or hour and a half and then have to take a subway 30~40 minutes home might be a pain in my bootyhole. I'll see about possibly meeting somewhere else on Tuesdays.
