Rock Show: Lovepump
Hey I just got back from a rock show. No you are not reading the time incorrectly; for the first time in roughly 8 years I went to a show on a Sunday afternoon. The last show I checked out on a Sunday afternoon probably involved numerous metal or hardcore bands that feature friends of mine from school. Anyhow, stylistically this one was a tad different.
My friend Darrell plays drums for two bands. One is a blues band, the second is a band called Lovepump. The blues band plays...well blues, but not the good Delta blues murder and meyhem and alcohol kind...the boring white man kind. Lovepump on the other hand is a rock band. They kind of sounded like the Cranberries or Alanis Morrisette (both of whom they covered). Anyhow it wasn't really my style of rocking as they played way too many slow songs and didn't rock enough (though there was a messed up version of Heart's "Baracuda" in there) and I had to travel to Itaewon to see it. But weather or not I liked the tunes or the venue was beyond the point, I had to support my buddy's rock combo.
Anyhow since they are a fairly new band, and it was some outdoor event the sets were mainly cover tunes that pulled from the female fronted pop-rock acts from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s (2000s?). They played a few originals which sounded better than their covers. Anyhow it wasn't too bad, and it was a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon...even if unlike the last Sunday afternoon show I went to, I didn't get to jump around and flail my arms.

Darrell's band, Lovepump.

Darrell Rockin' Out!

Get that bass outta my face!
