Rock Show: Omega 3, Sixteen, Peterpan Complex

So international rock star, Sting, played here in Seoul tonight...not that I bothered to check it out. I was too busy rocking out to Omega 3, Sixteen, and Peterpan Complex.

The first band of the evening was Omega 3. I'd never heard or seen them before, but man alive, they rocked the shit out of that fucker. They were a three piece rock combo (drum, bass, and keyboards) that played some quasi Ben Folds Five style rock. The thing that really rocked about them was all three members had some lead vocal duties. All of them were talented musicians and outstanding vocalists. Their debut album is supposed to be coming out soon, so I'll be sure to pick that one up.

Omega 3, not to be confused with Omega Red, rockin' the shit out of Ssam Space.

After Omega 3, another band featuring a number in their title, Sixteen, hit the stage. This band had not originally been advertised, but I for one am not going to complain about their appearance. They were a female fronted band that played the jazzy indie rock that is popular among female fronted Korean indie bands (Rollercoaster, Rumblefish, ect.). Anyhow photos!

Sixteen.

I would have done anyone in this band (male members included...they were just that sexy).

After the sexiness that was Sixteen, it was time for the main event, Peterpan Complex. Woohoo! Anyhow, a picture speaks a thousand words. So, photos, start talking.

Rocking out Radiohead style.

Left hand bass riff....er right hand bass riff.

I'm thinking the guy on the right has to be an overseas Korean. I mean check the "Plumbers Lay Good Pipe" t-shirt he's sporting...oh wait this is Korea, I should know from my own, "The Catches You Youre Through!" shirt that English on shirts here means nothing. But then again he wore a Yo La Tengo shirt last time I saw them, and not many people in the States, let alone Korea have knowledge of Yo La Tengo.

Emo-tastic! (Check out the drummer. She's wicked cute, though I've never ever seen her smile).

I like the chest beating action captured here.

Rock out boys!

N-co! N-co! N-co! (Encore! Encore! Encore!)

Additionally the lead singer of Peterpan Complex had some awesome between song banter.
LEAD SINGER: (in English) What is the next song?
AUDIENCE: (laughs)
LEAD SINGER: I can speak Korean, but I want to be...global.

Later on in Korean he discussed how the singer from Sixteen was extremely beautiful and he wanted to talk to her, but didn't know how, until he came up with the line, "Hi, I sing in the band Peterpan Complex."
This line was outstanding, because if he had used it on the audience, he could have had any of the girls (since the audience was like 89% womens) in the sack with him immediately, but because she was also in a band, I didn't think it was going to work...he should have used English instead!

It was also at this show that I realized people in Korea don't dance or pogo at rock shows in Korea. It was also at this show that I figured out the reason why they don't dance. Indie rock fans in Korea seem to be primarily females, and since all girls here wear high heels at all times, pogoing becomes an extremely hazardous undertaking.

Anyhow, that does it from here. Peace out dudes!
