Q & A With Mr. Dunn

The most elite class I teach, currently consists of 4 teen/pre-teen girls (12-14 years old), anyhow while they were doing their daily journals, they began quizing me on the most random questions imaginable. Here is a transcription of the question and answer session to the best of my knowledge.

CAST: Mr. Dunn (me in my teacher guise, which pretty much means I was wearing a dress shirt and a tie as opposed to some sketchy t-shirt and low top converse), Judy (13 year old girl), Jenny (12 years old), Sandy (12 years old), Princess (14 years old)

SETTING: A classroom in an English 학원 in a small town in South Korea

Fade in on girls writing in their notebooks.

JENNY: Mr. Dunn, where is your hometown?
MR. DUNN: In New York.
SANDY: American? (Are you American?)
MR. DUNN: Yes.
JENNY: Do you like Bush?
MR. DUNN: President Bush? Bush 대통령? (as opposed to the mid-90's rock band).
JENNY: Yes. President!
MR. DUNN: No, I don't like him.
ALL: Good.
JUDY: Mr. Dunn, do many Americans smoke?
MR. DUNN: Some do, but more people in Korea smoke than in America.
PRINCESS: Mr. Dunn, do you smoke?
MR. DUNN: No. I don't smoke. Do you smoke?
PRINCESS: No. My dad and my friend smoke.
JUDY: My father smokes.
SANDY: My father.
JENNY: My father smokes.
MR. DUNN: Do your mothers smoke?
ALL: NO!
SANDY: Do you drink umm....술? (alcohol?)
MR. DUNN: Sometimes.
JUDY: Can you drink soju?
MR. DUNN: Yes, I can drink soju, but only on special days (those being Tuesday evenings...I jest)
PRINCESS: Mr. Dunn, girlfriend?
MR. DUNN: "Mr. Dunn, do you have a girlfriend?"
PRINCESS: Mr. Dunn do you have a girlfriend?
MR. DUNN: Yes, I have a girlfriend.
SANDY: Do you kiss?
MR. DUNN: Are you girls finished writing yet?

The thing that shocked me more then the subject matter was the fact that for the most part the girls' questions were grammatically correct (save for a couple that were a noun in a questioning fashion "girlfriend?") Anyhow I hope that this Q&A was informative, but if you'll excuse me, I have a special day that I need to finish celebrating. ^u^
