Judo Chop!

Judo Chop!
Back in business bitch! Cum...er...Com Doctor just returned my computer to me, so I have things to do other than watch Olympics. First thing is to change the tunes on my mp3 player...I mean as much as I enjoy Pearl Jam's 1995 concert at Soldier Field...there's only so much of it I can take.
Anyhow the Olympics are in full effect. Watching them from another country is odd...in that I'm getting to see some sports that America doesn't dominate in and therefore gets no play in America (ie. Judo and Badminton). Last night I watched entirely too much judo. South Korea walked off with the gold in the 70kg weight class...while at the same time a woman from North Korea (계순희) won silver in her weight class. Watching her match, was in a way more interesting (sociologically). Her was a woman from a country that's the South Koreans view as either a dangerous threat (at worst), or the way you might look at some backwards cousins dwelling in the deep south (at best). North Korea being the isolated place it is, there were not many...any North Korean fans in attendance. The South Koreans there were crazy as this little communist judo woman rolled through the competition...and the announcers as well were going nuts as she was winning, and I truly believe that had she won the gold, and the South Korean man had not won, she would have been on the front page of the papers this morning (in a larger article than she got). It was kind of odd that despite how much the South Koreans mock, fear, and hate the northerns, when it comes to world competition they are one Korea again and are all the same Koreans.
Today's female judo division looks like it's shaping up for a North vs. South competition...so we'll see how that works out.
