Rock Show: Cosmic Pop Review Vol. 2 (달콤한비누, 눈뜨고코베인, Strawberry TV Show, Fiddle Bambi, Mongoose)

Today after work I headed over to Baram to check out a show. I'd never heard any of the bands, but I figured with 5 bands for 10,000 won (less then $10US) I couldn't really go wrong.

Let's do this Wesley Willis style!
These bands played at Baram!
About 45 people were at the show!
The jam session was awesome.
It whooped a polar bear's ass with a belt.

달콤한비누 (Sweet Tasting Soap). These guys played some twee rock. That's an indie rock sub-genre right? They were fairly poppy, but not too shabby.

눈뜨고코베인. These guys alternated between sounding like a band who could have played at the original Woodstock, and a really sleazy new wave band. While both versions were awesome I prefered the new wave version. Fuckin' synth bass! Woohoo!

This guitar player was awesome. Skinny tie, and Pete Townsend windmills. Fuckin'-A man!

Strawberry TV Show. This is the second indie rock show I've been to in Korea that featured an Aztec Two Step style two man folk group. These guys were really hillarious which is always a plus when sitting through folk rock.

Fiddle Bambi. These guys and girls sounded a lot like Shonen Knife. I mean they had a song about a banana for crying out loud.

This guitar player was totally looking like Thurston Moore. Rock it Fiddle Bambi guitar player!

Mongoose! Holy crap these guys were totally awesome! With a sound somewhere between Ozma, a nintendo game, and a techno dance party, these guys really whooped a mule's ass with a belt.

Dude rocking hard on his keyboard. He ditched his Ernie and Bert shirt, in order to rock out better.

I couldn't tell if the bassist was being sarcastic with his look (state trooper shade, Ernie and Bert shirt, and quasi mohawk) or not. Anyhow dude rocked incredibly hard. He played insane wailing 80's guitar solos on a friggin' bass guitar. That's how hard he rocked!

Farewell Mongoose. Farewell Cosmic Pops Review (Vol. 2)!
